Van Insurance

As with car insurance, the insurance for vans, whether used privately or for business, is compulsory in the UK.

Van Insurance is quite a complicated subject full of jargon for most Brits, and is even more complicated when you don’t speak the language, as most of the immigrants in the UK. Moreover getting a van insurance quote is confusing as all the companies ask for information in different forms. The purpose of this part of our site is to provide a jargon-free source of the basic principles and information in your own language.

Van insurance types

Standard Van Insurance

Depending on the provider the standard van insurance will have number of restrictions. For example, the usage or the millage could be restricted or you will not be able to use the van for business purposes unless you inform the insurer.

Courier Insurance

If you are self-employed courier driver working for Amazon, Yodel, DPD, etc. you will need a specific insurance, which is usually much more expensive than the standard one. However, it will cover you for delivering goods belonging to other people, which might be useful especially if you carry high value items.

Goods in Transit Cover

Transporting dangerous, hazardous or extremely valuable cargo, then you may consider the above policy.
